Principal Kezena Brown has over a decade of distinguished educational leadership experience. Her comprehensive background spans multiple facets of school administration and makes her uniquely qualified to lead Innovation’s next chapter. With deep expertise in both literacy education and school operations, Ms. Brown has consistently demonstrated her ability to transform educational environments and drive student achievement across diverse school communities in New York City. She holds dual master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration from NYU and Literacy from Hunter College.
College and Career Readiness Program
We build college readiness with a CCR course every year, early college credits with College Now and Advanced Placement courses, and yearly college tour experiences that broaden their horizons. Through our partnerships our students get mentorship, college credits, and priority access to paid summer jobs with SYEP. Union Settlement, Weill-Cornell Medical Center, University of Delaware, and Virginia State University are key partners.
Software Engineering Program
Code the next big app in our 3-year track, build a your digital portfolio and earn college credit with AP Computer Science. Learn Arduino circuit building, game design with MIT Scratch, 3D Printing, and robotics!
AP Course
Culinary Arts Program
Over four years in our commercial teaching kitchen, students master cooking and baking skills, learn hospitality and restaurant management. Graduates earn a valuable NYS CTE endorsement on their diploma and the industry-standard NOCTI certification.
Student chefs learn foundational culinary skills, demonstrating an understanding of terminology and techniques such as braising and grilling, alongside the ability to read, follow, and set up recipes mise en place. A focus is placed on safety and sanitation, requiring students to display knowledge of personal hygiene, proper cleaning and sanitizing methods, and safe knife usage and care. Students must exhibit an understanding of workplace injury prevention, fire safety procedures, and food allergen characteristics. They demonstrate proper food storage techniques for all types of goods and learn how to take both physical and perpetual inventory.
CTE
Visual & Performing Arts Program
Learn painting, drawing, sculpture, dance, and piano then create and perform your original works. Through art you develop the creative and communication skills that employers look for.
