Juniors Take the Stage with NYU's Youth Ensemble
In April 2026, two of our 11th grade students performed at NYU in their Youth Ensemble's Black Box Theater showcase. Led by Dr. Amy Cordelione, this NYU Steinhardt's School of Music and Performing Arts Professions program pairs high school students from across New York City with graduate student directors to rehearse and perform short plays.
From February to April, our students dedicated evenings and weekends to learn their lines, practice their movements, and connect with their characters and scene partners. It was a real commitment to excellence and they delivered! Teachers attended in support of our students, and this opportunity came about because one of our new faculty members participated in this same program as a college student and reached out to Dr. Cordelione to get Innovation students involved. It was a great success, and Dr. Cordelione said she'd love to have us back next year.
At Innovation Charter High School, we believe in opening doors knowing our students will enter the room and shine. We're so proud of everything they accomplished!
Students consistently tell us they feel their teachers genuinely believe in them and want them to succeed. Our teachers and support staff know students and families well and whether full-time or part-time, everyone shares accountability for student success.
