Swedish Minister for Secondary Education Visits Innovation ‘s Software Engineering Program

Innovation is excited to welcome Aida Hadzialic, Sweden’s Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education and Training, for a visit to our Software Engineering Program (SEP).  Representatives of the Office of Postsecondary Readiness at the NYC Department of Education will also attend to discuss the initiative and some of its successes.

The visit will include observation of an SEP class and a demonstration of Innovation’s Green Hub project, which uses software and embedded electronics to cultivate the school’s rooftop garden. With guidance from SEP teachers, students working on the Green Hub project have constructed and programmed electronics to water plants based on soil moisture level, manage supplemental grow lights, and alert students to
relevant temperature changes.
